To view all plot lines in their entirety, the player will have to replay the game multiple times and choose different choices to further the plot to an alternate direction.ĭa Capo III occurs about 20 years after Da Capo II on Hatsune island, once famous for its everlasting cherry trees. Throughout gameplay, the player is given multiple options to choose from, and text progression pauses at these points until a choice is made. After Zero is finished, another route is made available. After the completion of the first four heroine routes, an additional scenario called Zero is made available, which revolves around Aoi Hinomoto, another heroine of the game. There are five main plot lines that the player will have the chance to experience, one for each of the heroines in the story. Da Capo III follows a branching plot line with multiple endings, and depending on the decisions that the player makes during the game, the plot will progress in a specific direction. Much of its gameplay is spent on reading the story's narrative and dialogue. It’s like if you want to do anything in this game, you need a guide to figure out how to do it, sheesh.Da Capo III is a romance visual novel in which the player assumes the role of Kiyotaka Yoshino. Though, this being my first game of this type, I wonder how the HELL you could figure out what to say or where to go to set off the required events for the different girls and their respective endings. I was originally going to check out the other endings, but Sakura’s ending was so good, and really it resolved everything, that if I did any other ending, it would feel like nothing is really being solved – though it was lampshaded at the end of Sakura’s ending. The story was pretty interesting, and it reminded me a LOT of Kanon, except that instead of the focus being on Memories, it was focused on Dreams. After the school year ends, you kind of assume that is near the end of the game, but Sakura’s path lasts for at least 6-7 more hours, which was surprising, but it was fun. Thankfully this time the game didn’t end abruptly at all, and I liked how it ended. Ok, this time I followed a guide to get Sakura’s ending, since it seems like she was the canon love interest.
